Dr Tabane Moagi

Dr Tabane Moagi is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon in private practice in Rustenburg, North West. He qualified MBChB at the University of Natal and went on to complete the FCS (Ortho) SA fellowship of the College of Medicine of South Africa. He has run this practice since 2002.

His work covers the hip, knee and shoulder, injuries sustained in sport, and fractures and other trauma. A large part of the practice is arthroplasty — replacing a joint that is worn out — but many patients who come in expecting surgery leave with a plan that does not involve an operation at all. Dr Moagi will tell you plainly which of the two applies to you.

He is certified by AMIS for Anterior Minimally Invasive Surgery in hip replacement, an approach that works between the muscles rather than cutting through them. The practice is a National Reference Centre for AMIS, which means other surgeons come here to be trained in the technique.

Dr Moagi is also an Independent Examiner qualified through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME), work that involves objective assessment of injury and impairment, including workplace injuries.

He consults at the rooms on the second floor of Ferncrest Hospital in Tlhabane and operates at Netcare Ferncrest Hospital and Life Peglerae Hospital, both in Rustenburg.
